Rotary Dies
A rotary die is a cutting tool which is
cylindrical in nature. Sharpened steel blades are bent and
formed around the outer surface of the cylinder to the
pattern to be cut. The blades are held in position with high
density plywood. Blade thickness typically runs between .056
and .112 inches. Fold lines, scores, and perf cuts can all
be made. The diecutter is similar in principal to the old
time laundry wringers except on a much larger scale. The die
replaces one roller in our wringer example with the material
to be cut replacing the laundry. Rotary dies are primarily
used in the corrugated box industry but most web fed
materials can be cut as well. See Die
Cutters for a listing of machines which we
manufacture steel rule dies.
Typical uses for Rotary Dies:
- Corrugated Boxes
- Plastics
- Foam
